I didn't see the book as a rehash of other diet programs, as some have commented, 'tho the pros and cons of some popular ones are discussed. His focus is on using your new habits eating to change your metabolism for the better, and gain other health benefits caused by better regulation of your blood sugar, remove the spikes, etc. Provides a wealth of the more recent scientific studies (see also recent Time magazine article on the misinformation over the years on fats). The reader is given choices as to what degree they want to become involved in his recommendations. I'm older and was concerned about muscle loss, and found I was eating way too little protein, which I'd already begun to suspect. He presents different ideas on exercise. I'm still evaluating that. In all cases, review this information with your family doctor and I'd suggest researching each point made in the book before committing to it. But so far the results have been encouraging for us. The book spends time discussing protein / vegetable smoothies, which we'd already come to see benefits. Money well spent in my opinion.

Interesting book, although I haven't had time to read all of it yet. We'll see if I can apply the principles found in it.
This is an interesting concept for weight loss. About a pound a week which is the healthy way to lose weight. I now eat vegetables for breakfast with my turkey sausage or eggs. Very filling, surprisingly. I use left-over vegetables from the night before, or sauté up a single squash along with another vegetable. It’s a good read.
