This story set in an imaginary Japan about a ronin samurai, has such amazing detail you feel like you are there. You can experience the peace in the garden he is so good. Unfortunately it was too short. Can't wait to read the next installment in the story.
I LOVED this short tale and felt it was the perfect prolog for a full length novel. I very much want to see how the characters ended up in this situation and what happens next. Will definately be waiting for the next part of the story and hope (hint, hint) it's soon!!

Katsume Shogoro is on a mission. He is out to avenge his families honor from a skirmish that occurred forty years earlier on the border of Yoshioka. Not only does he send a request to his adversary, but is on a path to restore the good name of his ancestors or die trying. It is a story about honor.
This is a short, but detailed story with a very fluent writing style. Bauer uses tightly woven expressions that give the story a fast paced feel with quick dialect and action. Bauer is a talented writer and I look forward to reading more of his works. I would highly recommend it!
This book is excellent. The writing is tight, creates a prefect tone, and is free of any typos. I was really drawn into the story, so much so that I immediately forgot it was a short story. Imagine my grief then when I got to the end and wanted more, only to be denied. I really liked this short story. This is a competent writer who in very short order can spin a great tale. Check it out.
It really didn't give me a real history about the characters. The chapter was shorten that's why I didn't like it.
Biggest disapointment is there wasn't more. Sincerely hope Mr. Bauer decides to complete the novel. Very well written, and obviously catches and holds your interest from the first sentence on.
